Adobe Posts Lightroom 2.1 Update
Adobe has posted a “Release candidate” of Lightroom 2.1 at Adobe Labs. It supposedly addresses many minor issues (bugs) and performance levels.
The Release Candidate identity is explained by Adobe in the following manner:
“The ‘release candidate’ label indicates that this update is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers. The Lightroom team would like the community to help verify the quality of this update through normal usage as this will ensure that the application is tested on a diversity of hardware and software configurations not available internally at Adobe.”
Of course, if you are not experiencing any issues then you may just want to save your time and wait for the actual release.

When that $100 bill in your pocket sets itself on fire.
There are certain features in 2.0 which would be advantageous but none of them you can’t live without. The fact that a 2.1 was or is a release candidate shows that there are minor bugs, some of which you may never experience, that need to be ironed out.
2.0 will convert all your v1 catalogs but not replace them. As a result of the new features you will not be able to open the 2.x catalogs in 1.x
